Likeda STEAM Student Campsite is a space for practical courses and activities specially developed for students, which covers an area of 160,000m2. While students are exploring nature and experiencing life in the base, extended course and practical activities are also carried out. Under the guidance of specialists in agriculture and science, students can fully immersed with the STEAM curriculum. It supports students to explore and learn from the nature, as well as provides introduction to scientific concepts.

In Peking University New Century School-Wenzhou, students play the role as farmers. In Likeda STEAM Student Campsite which combines food-related education and STEAM education curriculum, little farmers not only cultivate crops by themselves, cook and taste the organic food they grow, but also participate in various researches of plants.

By carrying out projects relevant to food and eating, the concept of food-related education is to help students to develop a sophisticated and healthy view towards food and nutrition, and inspire children to appreciate and love the gift from nature.

Bearing the concept in mind, teachers of Peking University New Century School-Wenzhou combine courses with various practical activities, encouraging students enjoy the fun in the natural environment with meaningful practices.

While having classes in their own vegetable garden, children get close to nature, learning planting skills through practices. By taking care of the plants, it is helpful for them to develop the sense of responsibility and pride in themselves. Meanwhile, the teamwork and problem solving skills are also improved through the farming and gardening activities. During the practices, children also keeps curious about everything and eager to learn.

In addition, in order to promote good eating habit and physical activity for a healthier lifestyle, dietitians are invited to give lectures about nutrition education in Peking University New Century School-Wenzhou. Given the lectures and workshops, children are supposed to build knowledge to improve healthy decision making.
