Satellite Research and Study

The first trip of the research and study series started at the Micro/Nano Satellite Research Center of Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NUST) on November 17th 2018. Student representatives from both schools had a close contact with Likeda Education Satellite. They observed closely and experienced the real development and testing process of satellites. They also assembled a satellite model by themselves.

 

Satellite “Farewell Party”

Wenzhou Dalton Elementary School and Peking University New Century School -Wenzhou held a satellite “farewell party” on campus and established Space STEAM Clubs on November 27th 2018. Mr. Huang Zhong, the co-founder of Beijing Commsat Technology Development Ltd. Co,, unveiled the Space STEAM Education Lab in both schools. Mr. Jiao Weixin, who is a professor of School of Earth and Space Sciences in Peking University, and Mr. Pan Houren, who is a scientist of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a deputy supervisor of the Artificial Satellite design team of “Dongfanghong-I (Red East 1)”and has devoted himself to China Aerospace (CASC), were invited to become Senior Consultants of the Space STEAM Clubs in both schools.

 

Chasing the Satellite

On December 7th 2018, a Long-March II-D rocket,carrying with the Likeda Education Satellite (so called “Ladybeetle No. 5”) launched at 12:12 p.m. from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwestern China. The satellite is engraved with its name as well as the school names –  Wenzhou Dalton Elementary School and Peking University New Century School –Wenzhou. It will become a “wing of dreams” for students, provide real experience of controlling satellite and capturing data for both teachers and students. It will also accelerate the development of Space STEAM Education.
